The Department of Sports Injury Prevention of the National Olympic Academy Sports Medicine Center will hold The 1st International Webinar on Sports Injury Prevention on December 11 with the participation of prominent foreign professors and speakers.

Iran NOA; Tehran: the prevalence of sports injuries among professional athletes is increasing and sports injuries can affect the life and future of an athlete.

Because of this, many athletes who have a chance to win medals in major world and Olympic events, have not been able to participate in the competition due to injuries or have not been able to perform well if they have attended these events.

In this regard, the Department of Sports Injury Prevention of the National Olympic Academy intends to hold the first injury prevention webinar in December in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and other injury prevention centers in the world.

In this webinar, prominent speakers and officials such as Prof. Lars Angbersten, Head of Scientific Activities of the International Olympic Committee and one of the founders of the Oslo Sports Injury Research Center, Prof. Everett Verhagen, President of the Amsterdam Injury Prevention Center, Prof. Tim Mir, Professor of the University of Saarland and Physician of The German National Football Team and Dr. Katherine Stephen will speak from the training center of the Norwegian National Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

It is worth mentioning that the prevention of sports injuries and maintaining the health of athletes is one of the most important priorities and programs of the International Olympic Committee. The Scientific and Medical Commission of this Academy, since 2009, in cooperation with reputable educational, research and clinical centers around the world, has established research centers for the prevention of sports injuries and the promotion of athletes' health.

Eleven centers have been established in Denmark, Norway, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Qatar, the Netherlands, South Africa and Australia to provide injury prevention services to elite athletes.

Due to the prevalence of sports injuries in Iranian national and elite athletes, since 2019 the Department of Sports Injury Prevention has been established to serve Iranian champions at the National Olympic Academy of Iran.
