The Chairman of the Legal Commission of the National Olympic Committee and a member of the Athletics Protection Policy Making Council explained about the formation and process of the council.
Iran NOA; Tehran: Mr. Ali Dadgar, a member of
the NOC Executive Board, Chairman of the Legal Commission and a member of the
Policy Making Council for the Protection of Athletes against Harassment and
Abuse in Sports, stated: “The International Olympic Committee in a communication
to all the National Olympic Committees in 2003, called the members for the
establishment of an Athletes Protection Council in these committees. Therefore;
following this announcement, the Athletes Protection Policy Making Council,
with the presence of NOC officials has been formed.
He also highlighted that discussions on the
details of the council's bylaws, the identification of a number of leading
experts as athletes' protective officers are among the topics talked over in
the last two sessions of the council.
Dadgar added: “the process requires further
study, especially for localization of IOC documents and providing appropriate
solutions to adapt them to the conditions of the country”.
