Saturday, November 01, 2008 - 04:13 AM: According to the article 14 of the NOC Statutes, the candidates for the Executive Board election must submit their candidature 15 days before the General Assembly.
Based on this article, the chairman read out the names of the candidates for all the Executive Board positions i.e. President, two Vice-Presidents, Secretary General, Treasurer, and 6 members. The election was held with all the representatives of member organizations voting for their favorite candidates. The following members of the NOC Executive Board were then elected for the tenure of office 2004-2008:
The candidates for the position of NOC President were Dr. Reza Gharekhanlou and H. E. Mr. Mohammad Ali Abadi (the other candidates withdrew before the election).
Number of votes cast in favour of Dr. Reza Gharekhanlou: 8
Number of votes cast in favour of H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ali Abadi: 56
◙ H. E. Mr. Mohammad Ali Abadi was elected as President of the NOC for the new composition of the NOC Executive Board.
The candidates for the position of NOC Secretary General were Messrs Bahram Afsharzadeh, Ali Moradi, Vahid Moradi and Dr. Mehrzad Hamidi

Number of votes cast in favour of Mr. Ali Moradi: 4
Number of votes cast in favour of Mr. Vahid Moradi: 2

◙ Mr. Bahram Afsharzadeh was elected as Secretary General of the NOC for the new composition of the NOC Executive Board.
For the election of NOC Treasurer, Dr. Seyed Nasrollah Sajjadi and Mr. Mehdi Karbasian were the candidates.

The candidates for the position of NOC Vice President were Mr Mehdi Ghadami, Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, Dr. Seyed Nasrollah Sajjadi, Ms. Moshref Javadi and Mr. Mehdi Talebpour

Number of votes cast in favour of Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa: 41
